# Action Row

Action Row is layout component that can contain:

1. Up to 5 [Buttons](../button/index);
2. A single [String Select Menu](../string-select-menu/index) or [Entity Select Menu](../entity-select-menu/index).

It's not possible to mix different component types here, e.g. action row can only contain either up to 5 buttons or one
single select menu, but not both types at the same time.

## Availability { #availability }

Action Row component is available for all message template modes (text, embed, components).

Specific component availability depends on the context. For example, select menus and non-link buttons are only
available for [Custom Commands](../../../cmd/custom/index).
